If these walls could talk, they would certainly have some stories to tell. They’re the homes across the country that horrific murders have taken place. While some cities attempt to bury their macabre history by bulldozing the houses horror built, other homes are not only still standing, people live in them. Today we’ll look at five murder houses in the US that you could still live in… if you dare.

The Menendez House

In 1989 Lyle and Erik Menendez walked into the den of their family home, where their parents, Jose and Kitty, had settled in to watch a movie and killed them in cold blood. In 1994, both brothers were convicted of the murders. It was the first murder trial to ever be fully televised. Today the home where the Menendezes lived and died still stands and people currently occupy the multi-million dollar Beverly Hills estate located at 722 N. Elm Dr.

The Conrad Aiken House

The childhood home of the American poet and novelist Conrad Aiken had seen its share of tragedy. At just 11-years-old, Aiken’s father, who had been a prominent brain surgeon, lashed out at Aiken’s mother. He heard the fatal shots, but by the time he had reached the bedroom it was already too late. He walked in to find both his mother and father dead. Today Aiken’s boyhood home in Savannah, Georgia still stands and is an interesting hot spot for local paranormal investigators who believe the troubled spirits of Aiken’s lost parents still roam the halls.

The Ramsey House

The bizarre murder of 5-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey by an apparent kidnapper within her Boulder, Colorado home is a case that continues to perplex us today. Everyone has their theories about what happened that Christmas night, but unfortunately, it would seem that closing this case for good may prove to be an impossible task. Today the upscale suburban home that little JonBenet met her end remains inhabited.

The LaLaurie Mansion

Madam LaLaurie was a New Orleans socialite who is also believed to be a serial killer. She was known to torture and murder her slaves, some of them used in bizarre human experimentation. A fire in the home led firefighters responding to the scene to discover a number of slaves bound in her attic. Her and her family were driven out of town, fleeing to France to avoid capture and conviction. Today the mansion still stands within New Orleans’ colorful French Quarter. The home was briefly owned by actor Nick Cage, before it fell into foreclosure in 2009. It was purchased by a new owner in 2010.

Amityville House

On the night of November 14, 1974, Ronald “Butch” DeFeo murdered his entire family in cold blood. Shortly after the murders the home was sold off to a new family who reported sensational tales of ghosts and bizarre happenings within the former DeFeo home. These stories would later lead to a book deal and several movies based on the family’s accounts. The Amityville home still stands and is inhabitable.
